Decathlon, the world’s largest sporting goods retailer with more than 1,600 points of sale worldwide, unveiled its spring/summer 2021 collection for the outdoor and mountain brands Quechua and Forclaz last week, live and digitally from its headquarters in France.

Among the innovations unveiled was the Evofit concept, which runs through the entire line of new hiking boots for men and women. It uses innovative materials and design techniques, paired with a four-way stretch to make hiking boots more comfortable for different foot shapes and widths.

Also new is Easyfit for hiking backpacks. The patented system allows simultaneous adjustment of the length of the back and the tightness of the shoulder straps by pulling on a single strap on both sides of the pack. In addition to Decathlon’s standard 10-year warranty on hiking backpacks, the line has also been updated with more environmental considerations, such as more sustainable dyeing practices and repairable and replaceable components.

The Forclaz brand for backpackers is expanding its sustainable and responsibly sourced Merino collection to include eco-innovations such as dye-free T-shirts and sleeping bag liners, a development that reduces environmental impact compared to dyed, non-organic fabrics.

For tents, the Air Seconds technology, along with the 2 Second Tent, which won the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award in January, provides more size and material options for a fast, hassle-free camping experience.

The collection is available now through July 2021 at decathlon.com.
