Original Buff has signed up Chris (Omprakash) Sharma, the well-known American climber from California, as an ambassador for the Spanish company's neckwear and its new expanded range of headwear. The 34-year-old Sharma, who is also sponsored by Prana, Petzl and other brands, spends a large part of the year in Spain, where he has a house. He is working on the construction of his first fully-owned indoor climbing gym, which is scheduled to open in Barcelona in the autumn. Meanwhile, Buff's new headwear is selling well. The spring/summer 2016 line uses Coolmax and offers protection against insects and UV rays. First introduced for the autumn/winter season and made at the company's own Spanish factory, headwear is making up for the discontinuation of the company's former apparel line, helping the company to continue growing at an annual rate of about 10 percent. With sales in more than 70 countries, Buff reached a turnover of €29 million for the financial year ended April 15.
