During the current “soft lockdown” in Germany, the family-owned outdoor brand Schöffel has launched a new campaign to support local businesses. With video messages and social media postings, Schöffel is calling for solidarity with stationary retailers. In a commercial, which has been played out via the company’s social media channels since the lockdown started on Nov. 2, Schöffel asks: “Who will grind and wax your skis if your local sports retailer is out of business?”
What´s remarkable is that the campaign is not only aimed at the Schöffel brand, but also encourages consumers to buy other sports and outdoor brands. In a different posting, the brand asks: “Schöffel, Nike or On? It doesn’t matter! Your sports retailer needs you now”. The campaign has already gone viral in social media with more than 550,000 impressions on Facebook and Instagram.
