Asia Outdoor, the show in Nanjing, will add a sister show for bicycles to its offer to the Chinese retailers. From 2011, the bike show will be run simultaneously with the outdoor show from July 27 through 30. Both shows are organized by German Messe Consulting which is a joint venture of Knut Jaeger’s Asia Outdoor Marketing, Messe Friedrichshafen and the publisher of the Chinese Alpinist consumer magazine. Like Asia Outdoor, the Asia Bike show will be co-ordinated by Knut Jaeger, the founder and former owner of Big Pack who is in charge of the marketing for both shows. Some observers told us that the date might be sort of early in the year for a bike trade show. Stefan Reisinger from Messe Friedrichshafen explained that the Chinese market is still really at its beginnings and, therefore, it would not be the worst case if not all the exhibitors managed to present their latest products for the 2012 season. Instead, the advantage would be the synergies between the two trade shows since quite a few local retailers sell bikes and outdoor products together in their shops.
