The German premium e-bike supplier Riese & Müller (R&M) is adding a new administration and production building to its ”green” state-of-the-art campus in Mühltal near Darmstadt. Construction work on the new structure will begin in May and is scheduled for completion in July 2022.
Following the commissioning of a new warehouse building to complement the main building in August 2020, the third building will provide space for two additional production units, parts of the shipping department, a spacious development center, an expanded service department and additional office and seminar rooms. This will provide a further 10,000 square meters of usable space on a total of three floors directly adjacent to the main building.
Like the existing building, the new building will be constructed according to the latest energy and ecological standards. It will have a photovoltaic system on the roof, which will supply it completely with solar power. Rainwater is stored in a cistern and used as service water. This reduces the consumption of drinking water to a minimum.
R&M is also hiring more than 60 new employees for the growing e-bike production by April 2021. The company currently employs around 550 people in Mühltal.
