Archroma, the Swiss manufacturer of color and specialty chemicals, and the Bluesign System are the latest to have committed to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation as contributors. The ZDHC Foundation oversees the implementation of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme, a collaboration of fashion brands, value chain affiliates and associations that work together to drive the global implementation of safer chemical management practices in textile and clothing production. Archroma will be uploading its key products onto the ZDHC Gateway - Chemical Module and support the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL) and the related “pyramid” conformity system, designed to eliminate duplicative approaches. Bluesign, the environmental certification system, initially agreed to co-operate with ZDHC around 17 month ago on methodology, structure, criteria and higher-level verifications. In becoming a ZDHC contributor, Bluesign will be adding its list of more than 12,000 approved chemical products, in the Bluesign Finder, to the ZHDC Gateway - Chemical Module, an online search tool that enables textile, apparel, leather and footwear suppliers to evaluate the ZDHC MRSL compliance of chemical formulations used in production processes.
