Bergans of Norway has raised its environmental goals by announcing that in 2016 all down products will be manufactured in accordance with the Textile Exchange's Responsible Down Standard. The milestone is part of an environmental and social responsibility plan called Expedition 2020. Last year, the company held several meetings with staff members from various departments to assess the company's efforts in terms of environmental sustainability, and determined what could be done to improve them. Among its objectives, the program Expedition 2020 calls for 75 percent of all products to be Bluesign approved and for 70 percent of products to be made from more sustainable raw materials by 2020. Other goals include packaging, which will come from sustainable sources, and shipment, which will only use airfreight for up to a maximum of 2 percent of all shipments. In addition, the company has set up annual sustainability training sessions for all Bergans staff, while all its buildings will be using renewable energy.
