Bergans of Norway is looking for 30 outdoor enthusiasts to test prototypes for the new Ecodear jackets, developed in partnership with Toray, the Japanese high-tech textile group. Applicants have to fill out a questionnaire on the Ispo Open Innovation platform. In the course of the project, testers will discuss product development with Bergans. Ecodear fabrics look and work like traditional functional materials but are made from renewable resources, instead of being entirely made from petroleum and other fuels as conventional polyester fabric is. The “ecodear” fabric is made 30 percent from molasses, a by-product of refining sugar. Those who are selected as testers will be sent a jacket. At the end of the development process, each tester will be allowed to keep the jacket, or will get a comparable item from the latest collection.
