Crocs reduced volatile organic compounds by 16.5 percent per pair in 2013 and is aiming for another 10 percent reduction this year. The footwear brand, which has just released its 2013 sustainability report, said it also completed its first greenhouse gas inventory, which included manufacturing facilities and headquarters. The company made improvements in its retail locations, opening its first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified store in Syracuse, New York. It also switched 70 percent of its retail locations to LED light bulbs. In addition, through its “Crocs Cares” program, the company donated more than 50,000 pairs of shoes and raised more than $150,000 for non-profit organizations in disaster relief areas including the Philippines and Haiti. The figures in the latest sustainability report cover Crocs' eight largest owned and contract factories in 2013, which produce 95 percent of total production, as well as the company's headquarters in the U.S.
