Five brands and retailers are the first participants in the European Clothing Action Plan (Ecap), the Europe-wide sustainable clothing plan, which was launched in May 2016, funded by EU Life. The first participants in the Plan include Bobo Choses, OVS, Peak Performance, Primark, and Star Sock. Ecap aims to develop a European framework to help reduce the carbon, water and waste footprints across the clothing lifecycle. Ecap aims to divert 90,000 tons of clothing waste from landfill and incineration annually in Europe by 2019. It also aims to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce water consumption. The organizations which are responsible for the delivery of the Plan include Wrap, Made-By, Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) - part of the Dutch ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the Danish Fashion Institute (DAFI), and the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB).
