Internetstores, the Germany bike and outdoor retailer, has hired the German consulting firm EPEA to overhaul environmental policy for its full value chain. EPEA, based in the city of Stuttgart just as Internetstores, began a three-month review of operations in June, after which it will draft a comprehensive proposal – with its “Cradle to Cradle” approach – to help Internetstores enter the circular economy. According to EPEA’s managing director, Dr. Hans Dohrmann, this will be done “with the help of renewable energies and digitalization.” The retailer claims to be climate neutral already. The logistics department is increasing the proportion of plastic-free parcels it dispatches, and the company has been testing reusable packaging in Scandinavia.
