Jack Wolfskin has announced that 75 percent of its apparel collection will be made without the use of perfluorinated or polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) as from the summer 2015 collection, three years ahead of schedule. In 2013, the company made a commitment, under the motto “Going the extra mile,” to completely ban harmful chemicals from the supply chain and manufacture products without fluorine chemicals by 2020. At the end of February 2013, Jack Wolfskin already announced that half of its 2014 winter collection is to be made without the use of PFCs. The company has said now that from this summer, PFOA and PFOS are completely excluded from its production process. This June, Jack Wolfskin supported an international conference on perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals organized by the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, which offered for the first time a separate workshop on the subject of “permanently water-repellent coatings for textiles – function and sustainability.”
