Jack Wolfskin says that half of its winter collection will be made without the use of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) as from 2014, two years ahead of schedule. In 2013, Jack Wolfskin made a commitment, under the motto “Going the extra mile,” to completely ban harmful chemicals from the supply chain and manufacture products without fluorine chemicals by 2020. Jack Wolfskin's original plan was to produce only the winter Travel collection without the use of fluorine chemicals, whereas by 2016 half of all its entire apparel collection should be PFC-free. Products made without fluorine chemicals as part of the winter collection include the Glenrock Jacket, the Cold Harbour Parka and the Selenium Down Jacket. In order to achieve its ecological commitments, the German outdoor company is collaborating with Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht and Fresenius University of Applied Sciences. Jack Wolfskin is a member of Fair Wear Foundation and a bluesign system partner. The company has also been a member of the “Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals” program since 2012.
