For almost two weeks, the Austrian outdoor and sportswear supplier Löffler has been producing face masks at its headquarters in Ried im Innkreis. Using about half of its workforce, the company is producing 2,500 to 3,000 face masks a day. “With this, we want to face the emergency and make a responsible contribution,” said the managing director, Otto Leodolter. The order to convert production came from the government of the province of Upper Austria. In cooperation with an institute from Vienna, the company tested various materials to ensure that the masks would be functional and up to specifications. Production is currently at capacity, but as soon as further resources are available and shops reopen, Löffler plans to offer the face masks to sports retailers as well.
