Moosejaw.com and Patagonia teamed up on a charity challenge give money to give to non-profit conservation groups. Through their “Moosejaw X Patagonia Charity Challenge Thing,” and using the online fundraising site crowdrise.com, the two companies were able to multiply a joint $10,000 pledge to non-profit conservation groups 11-fold. Moosejaw.com, founded in 1992 in Keego Harbor, Michigan, is an outdoor and action sports e-commerce platform selling surf, snowboard, camping, yoga gear and other products. The Moosejaw X Patagonia Charity Challenge Thing aims to drive engagement and gain exposure for environmental issues. Moosejaw.com used Facebook and Twitter to ask its customers to nominate their favorite environmental charities. From those nominations, the Patagonia Environmental Grants Council handpicked 16 charities to be a part of the project. The League to Save Lake Tahoe placed first in the challenge by raising over $27,000, winning an additional $5,000 from Moosejaw and Patagonia. Coming in at a close second was The Leelanau Conservancy of Michigan, which raised over $26,000, winning the $3,000 prize. The Michigan Land Use Institute, with $17,728, placed third in total funds raised and won $2,000.
