Climbing.com reports that Nepal will begin resuming domestic and international air traffic on Aug. 17, reopening its borders to tourism and issuing climbing permits for selected peaks for the fall season. Nepal stopped air traffic and climbing permits in the spring to slow the spread of Covid-19 within its borders. Nepal is also planning to open its borders to citizens of the United States this fall. According to The Himalayan Times, Nepal’s Ministry of Health decides whether or not arriving travellers must carry out self quarantine on arrival in Nepal. There will also be a standard operating procedure issued by the Ministry of Tourism with a health and safety protocol for climbing and trekking expeditions.
