Oeko-Tex has published new regulations for various programs. The certification body, which has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, has revised its Sustainable Textile Production (STP) certification standard. A new chapter has been added to the “Hazardous Processes That Should Be Avoided,” which includes the use of potentially hazardous surfactants, sodium hypochlorite as a bleaching agent and de-foamers that are potentially detrimental for the environment. In addition, a new pricing strategy has been established for Oeko-Tex' Made in Green product label which now offers label issuers smaller packets of labels or a single label for their products. Oeko-Tex said it will inform all interested companies about these and the other new regulations on product certification it has introduced as part of a webinar on Jan. 25. The organization has recently launched a leather standard, which allows producers and suppliers to have their leather products certified following testing for harmful substances.
