Oeko-Tex, an international association of 18 independent research and testing institutes that set safety standards for textiles and leather, will be certifying the environmental bona fides of products on Amazon’s behalf. The huge American e-tailer relies on the certification of many such labs to bestow its Climate Pledge Friendly label on the products it sells. About 25,000 products have received the label so far. Oeko-Tex’ certification takes the form of its own label: Made in Green. The association says that it currently works with about 16,000 manufacturers, brands and trading companies in about 100 countries.
