Pertex will be announcing its sustainability targets at the upcoming Performance Days trade show in Munich on Nov. 13-14, following the completion of its first Sustainability Report. Pertex' main sustainability objectives include reducing demand for virgin raw materials by replacing them wherever possible with materials from recycled waste streams, eliminating the use of potentially dangerous chemicals, and reducing energy and water consumption. The company aims to have 80 percent of the fabrics it produces contain at least 50 percent recycled content by 2022. By the same year, 100 percent of its fabrics should use non-fluorinated DWR finishes. The company has been developing non-fluorinated DWR finishing technology since 2010. In addition, Pertex plans to introduce solution-dyed products, using up to 60 percent less water than conventional bath dying. Pertex is a member of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (Eoca) and works with various independent certification bodies, including Oeko-Tex, Bluesign and Global Recycled Standard.
