Schöffel announced on the first day of the OutDoor show that its summer 2014 collection will be 100 percent PFOA-free. PFOA is notably helpful to make outer shells more water-repellent. While PFOA does not cause any harm to the user of the garment, its use in production has an impact on the environment, notably through water contamination. Schöffel has been trying to achieve this goal since 2010. The German company is currently in discussions with Bluesign Technologies for the certification process.
