The U.S. division of the Italian brand Tecnica has partnered up with the Two Ten Footwear Foundation, an organization that provides emergency financial assistance to footwear employees in crisis in the U.S. For every pair of Tecnica’s technical trail boots and shoes sold in the U.S. from June 10 to July 31, 2020, Tecnica will give $10 to the foundation’s Covid-19 Crisis Relief Fund, which aids footwear industry workers and their families who have been affected by the global health pandemic. The Two Ten Footwear Foundation estimates that nearly 60 percent of footwear employees in the U.S. are currently unemployed. According to Shawn Osborne, president and CEO of the foundation, the affected families would need $3 million in crisis relief over a 90- to 120-day period, and an additional $5 million or more in the 12 months to follow, to cover their needs – the cost of food and housing included. Osborne said that the pandemic’s impact “is unlike anything the Foundation has experienced in its 80-year history, but with support from companies like Tecnica, we will be able to help these families keep a roof overhead and food on the table.”
