Ternua has announced a new initiative to help save whales. The outdoor brand said it is channeling plastic waste from recycled bottles and other post-industrial waste products into the raw material for its spring/summer 2019 collection of travel accessories and backpacks. Plastic waste typically ends up in the ocean and the food chain of the species living in that environment. The protection of whales is part of Ternua's spirit. The intrepid Basque whalers who traveled all the way to Newfoundland (Ternua in Basque) around five centuries ago have inspired the name and logo of the brand. In tribute to whales, the company's conservation efforts have included since 1994 the adoption of four whales through Whale and Dolphin Conservation, a specialist charity.
