Textile Exchange is encouraging industry stakeholders to share their thoughts about the latest versions of its Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), two international voluntary standards that aim to increase the use of recycled materials and that set requirements for third-party certification of recycled input and chain of custody. The GRS also includes additional criteria for social and environmental processing requirements and chemical restrictions. In April 2021, the global non-profit organization, which works with all sectors of the textile supply chain to create positive impacts on the environment, launched a comprehensive revision of the GRS 4.0 and RCS 2.0, both of which were released on July 1, 2017, after a multi-stakeholder review. The revision is expected to result in the release of GRS 5.0 and RCS 3.0 towards the end of 2022, following a new multi-stakeholder review process. The open feedback period for this new review process will close on May 31, 2021. Based on this public feedback and in collaboration with the International Working Group, Textile Exchange will be creating a Draft GRS 5.0 and Draft RCS 3.0 that will also be released for public comment at a later stage.
