This month, in keeping with its pledge in 2018 to phase out single-use, non-biodegradable plastics, Finisterre established a partnership with another British company, Aquapak, which manufactures water-soluble, recyclable, compostable and biodegradable polymers. Over the past 10 months, they have developed a dissolvable packaging that breaks down into non-toxic biomass in soil and seawater. The new packaging is scheduled to enter the supply chain with certain knitwear lines this month and roll out fully with all garments in the spring 2020 collection in February. Finisterre is known for its focus on sustainable materials such as HDWool, a kind of wool sourced through certified non-mulesed supply chains and made with maximum waste recovery and without the use of plastics or harmful chemicals.
