Deckers Outdoor Corporation has filed suit in a U.S. District Court claiming that Tom Romeo and Romeo & Juliette, doing business as Bearpaw, copied the design of several of its UGG boots. Deckers says that Bearpaw is misleading customers and creating brand confusion when it uses inferior materials on boots that look like UGGs. Bearpaw replied that the only reason UGG is suing is because Bearpaw is starting to gain market share. The 10-year-old company, founded by Tom Romeo, is sold in the U.S. and 13 other countries.
