At its extraordinary general assembly on Nov. 27, European Outdoor Group (EOG) selected Matt Gowar to succeed Mark Held as its president now that Held’s second term has ended. Gowar is CEO and owner of Equip Outdoor Technologies, owner of the technical outdoor apparel and equipment brands Rab and Lowe Alpine. He was also one of the EOG’s founders in 2003 and served as general secretary until 2018.
Paolo Bordin, EOG board member and general manager of hiking-boot manufacturer Aku, has succeeded Gowar as EOG’s vice president.
Equip has been certified as a Climate Neutral Company and intends to be “Net Zero” by 2030. Gowar will be encouraging other EOG members to “commit to similar clear metrics, data collaboration and reduction targets,” according to the association’s press release. He will be speaking at this year’s ISPO Munich – at 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 29 – at a joint session titled “A chance to do things better – A new approach to sustainability communications.”
