Higg Co, the technology company behind the Higg Index platform, has appointed Josh Henretig, a former Microsoft executive, as its new vice president of global partnerships.
Henretig, who has been with the company for 17 years, has helped shape Microsoft’s sustainability agenda from its initial public environmental commitments in 2008 to its announcement earlier this year that it would become “carbon negative.” During his time at Microsoft, Henretig worked on all aspects of corporate sustainability design and execution. In 2016, he developed and launched Microsoft’s AI for Earth, a five-year, $50 million program focusing on the application of Microsoft’s artificial intelligence research and technology to the four areas of climate change, agriculture, water and biodiversity. At Higg Co, founded just a year ago as a spin-off from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Heneretig is responsible for developing new partnerships with key stakeholder organizations aligned with Higg Co’s mission and vision, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration and scale based on future product plans.
Heneretig’s appointment is the second appointment to the company’s management team this year. The SaaS company, which is incorporated as a public benefit organization, recently appointed former Nike board member Del Hudson as vice president of marketing & communications. Higg Co is rapidly adding new customers to its user base of global manufacturers, brands and retailers. The company has enabled the completion of more than 20,000 factory evaluations in over 80 countries and now employs more than 60 people.
