Joel Lee has been appointed as international sales manager for Vasque Footwear, the outdoor footwear brand of the Red Wing Shoes group. He started at the U.S. company in December, supervising international distributors and the company's own business in Canada. Lee started his career in outdoor retailing as a buyer and store manager in Montana. He went on to spend 14 years with Black Diamond Equipment, in functions that included the management of international accounts. Vasque's international business had been supervised since June 2014 by John Irvine, based in Vancouver. He joined from Arc'teryx and for several years he worked with George Curleigh, a former Salomon and Arc'teryx manager who became Vasque's vice president and general manager in May 2012. Irvine said shortly after his arrival that he wanted to get distribution started in Europe again, after an absence of about three years, with the appointment of a European sales director.
