Leatherman has named Fritz Kaufmann vice president of manufacturing and development. He started working at the company last November on the engineering, development and manufacturing of new products and to optimize the production at Leatherman's facility near Portland, Oregon. Reporting to Ben Rivera, president and chief executive of the American company, he will also oversee quality control, sourcing and maintenance. Kaufmann has spent more than 22 years on similar assignments at other companies, starting at Blount in 1991 and spending the period between 1998 and 2013 as vice president of manufacturing and engineering at Leupold & Stevens, a global supplier of premium sports optics.
