Marco Sancandi has been appointed to the new position of director of operations at Garmont International, the Italian outdoor and mountaineering footwear company. A seasoned outdoor executive, Sancandi is to initiate and manage plans for Garmont's expansion, while supervising sales, marketing, research and logistics. Sancandi spent the last 15 years as general manager of the Lafuma Group's Italian subsidiary, to which the supervision of Spain and Andorra was recently added. He previously held senior positions at the Benetton SportSystem group, where he was in charge of the development of brands including Nordica and Asolo. Sancandi's appointment comes about one year after the Garmont brand was taken over by Pierangelo Bressan, an Italian businessman who also owns Prisma 2, a company specialized in the development of outdoor apparel. Sancandi is to report to Pierangelo Bressan, the company's president, the Italian entrepreneur who bailed out Garmont one year ago.
