On Oct. 1, Joakim Persson joined the team of the continental European operations of Sherpa Adventure Gear, the apparel manufacturer from Nepal. Sherpa set up a European office in Sindelfingen outside Stuttgart, Germany, earlier this year and premiered at this summer's OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen. Persson, 53, will support Wolfgang Jahn, managing director, in the development of the German market, as well as in the introduction of the Nepali brand in northern Europe. Persson and Jahn were colleagues at Bradshaw Taylor, the big U.K. distributor of various outdoor brands domestically and internationally. Later on, they worked together for Icebreaker's own European operations. During that time, Jahn served as German sales director of Icebreaker, the New Zealand-based marketer of Merino apparel, while Persson worked as one of his sales reps. Bradshaw Taylor is now Sherpa's exclusive European distributor. Persson later switched to Fenix Outdoor, the Swedish group of outdoor brands, and acted as sales director for the accessory brands Brunton and Primus. In this role, he has been replaced by Gerald Palm, a former sales rep of Sigg, the Swiss bottle maker.
