Peter Weaver, a highly respected American executive with an international background, will act as the new chief executive of the Italian-based Tecnica Group, starting next week. Weaver, who is 59 years old, will take the place of 74-year-old Giancarlo Zanatta, the hyperactive dean of the family that controls the company. Giancarlo will remain chairman of the supervisory board and his 44-year-old son, Alberto Zanatta, will remain general manager of the group, reporting to Weaver. At least for a while, Weaver will commute back and forth between Tecnica's head office and its office in the U.S., which he has led with excellent results since 2007. A graduate in mechanical engineering and business, he acted as CEO of Marker International between 1998 and 2002, spending time in Europe while supervising its merger with Völkl. He previously ran Easton Technical Products, a U.S. manufacturer and distributor of outdoor products.
