Petzl's North America sales director, Kenneth Thomas (Tom) Adams, has been chosen by Utah's Office of Economic Development as the new director of the state's Office of Outdoor Recreation. Adams has worked in Utah's outdoor recreation industry for more than 20 years. In addition to Petzl, he has worked in sales roles at Liberty Mountain and Black Diamond Equipment. Adams received an official endorsement for the post from the Outdoor Industry Association, which advocated the creation of the position in 2012, during the negotiations on whether or not to maintain the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City. Adams has resigned from Petzl North America to take over the new role. As director of the Office of Outdoor Recreation, he will oversee the state's outdoor recreation programs and vision, to help Utah improve its recreational opportunities while ensuring a responsible approach to the protection of public lands. Adams is widely known for his skiing passion and expertise in rock and ice climbing. He is also a competitive cyclist.
