Cotopaxi, the rapidly growing humanitarian-focused outdoor brand founded in 2014 with $3 million in seed funding, has added industry veteran Wendy Yang to its board. Yang is the president of Deckers Brands’ performance lifestyle group, leading the growth of Hoka One One, Teva, and Sanuk. Previously an executive at New Balance, Timberland, and Reebok, she has already built multiple global omni-channel consumer brands and led and grown exceptional teams. Yang also serves as a board member of Camber Outdoors, a nonprofit supporting workplace inclusion, equity, and diversity in the active-outdoor industries.
Cotopaxi has seen year-over-year growth of 80 percent and is expanding not only their direct-to-consumer business, but has also been aggressively growing their wholesale footprint and their own brand-owned retail stores, adding two additional stores next month in Seattle, Washington, and Orem, Utah.
Last October, Cotopaxi appointed Unify Brand Partnerships, based in south Wales as the brand’s first European distributor. Cotopaxi Europe is headquartered in Baldham near Munich, Germany. At this point, the brand is still mainly selling via its direct-to-consumer website throughout the EU and looking globally for strategic and valued partners to continue its success and reach a wide audience of potential brand advocates.
