Sport 2000 Europe has appointed Thomas Weber to the newly created position of business unit manager for the Absolute Outdoor retail format, a step-up to Sport 2000 Germany's existing Outdoor Profis format. The 56-year-old manager previously worked in leading positions at Rockport, Reebok, Corporate Express, Kettler and Recaro. The Absolute concept was developed by the Sport 2000 voluntary chains in the German-speaking countries, Benelux and France in 2018 to strengthen the quality of the services and the cooperation with affiliated retailers and suppliers in four specific product categories: outdoor, team sports, running and fitness (see the Compass, Vol. 11 N° 13+14 of July 12, 2018). After the launch of the first Absolute Teamsport store last September in Rupprach-Goldhausen, two more opened in two other German cities last month. The first Absolute Run store was opened in Bonn in April (more on this in SGI Europe). The first Absolute Outdoor stores should open their doors by the end of this year.
