The board of directors of Conzzeta, the Swiss company that owns Mammut Sports Group, has proposed to elect Ernst Bärtschi as its new chairman at the next annual meeting in April 2014. The 61-year-old executive has been the chief executive of Sika, a producer of construction chemicals, for seven years up to 2012, playing a leading role in its expansion in Asia and the improvement of its profitability. He previously worked for Nestlé and Schindler. Bärtschi would succeed the 70-year-old Jacob Schmidheiny, who has been with Conzzeta for 40 years, joining its board of directors in 1977 and running it since 1984. Under his management, Conzzeta has transformed itself from a company specializing in construction materials to a diverse group with seven business units. Schmidheiny would remain a member of the board after he steps down from his current post. He belongs to the family that founded Conzzeta 101 years ago, after operating for many years in the bricks and tiles business.
