Vaude has appointed Birgit Bohnert general manager of its retail development company, Vaude Franchising. For the last decade, the 42-year-old built up the Marc O'Polo Junior collection under a licensing agreement. At Vaude, she will report at the operating level to Jan Lorch, sales director, and formally to the managing directors of Vaude Franchising, which is actually a funny construction: Vaude holds 51 percent of this company, while the rest is controlled by Reischmann, a strong retailer in the Lake Constance region where Vaude is headquartered, too. Reischmann operates two of the currently five single-branded Vaude stores in Germany, but Vaude's retail concept is open to other retailers both on the domestic and the international fronts.
