Viking Fottøy, the Norwegian footwear group, has recruited a high-profile marketing director to accompany its latest bout of expansion. Romain Jourdan, a Frenchman who spent the last 13 years in Norway, comes from Maxxium/The Edrington Group, which is mostly known for distributing brands of spirits such as Famous Grouse, Cointreau and Rémy Martin. He stayed with that company for eight years, with functions ranging from Nordic marketing manager to Norwegian country manager and more. Jourdan's assignment is to strengthen the Viking brand in all markets and to support marketing efforts for Kangaroos, a brand for which Viking Fottøy holds a license in the Nordics and Baltics. Jourdan will formally join Viking at the start of January. The company previously had a sales and marketing manager, but these functions have been split to deal with the outdoor footwear brand's growth. Viking is the subject of an extensive strategic profile in our upcoming market research report on the Norwegian outdoor market.
