Vista Outdoor has hired Fred Ferguson as vice president for government and industry relations. Based in Utah, Vista Outdoor owns a large portfolio of brands including Camelbak, Federal Premium, Savage Arms, Bushnell, Primos, Blackhawk, Bollé, Bell and Giro. Ferguson will lead Vista Outdoor's outreach programs with the legislative and executive branches, as well as relationships with industry associations and the company's Political Action Committee. He will report to Amanda Covington, the company's senior vice president of communications and government relations. Most recently, Ferguson worked as chief of staff for Jason Chaffetz, the U.S. representative for Utah's third congressional district and a member of the Republican Party. In this role, he led a team of more than 70 staff members between Utah and Washington, D.C., and acted as principal policy adviser for legislative and political matters for the Congressman. He also managed Chaffetz' successful campaign for the chairmanship of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Prior to this, Ferguson worked as legislative director for Robert William “Rob” Bishop, the U.S. Representative for Utah's first congressional district and a member of the Republican Party.
