Wolfgang Jahn has been appointed sales director for Sherpa Adventure Gear for the Benelux countries, Germany, Austria and Italy where the Nepalese brand is new. Jahn served as sales manager for the German market of Icebreaker, the specialty brand of Merino wool apparel over the past decade. The European distributor of Sherpa is Bradshaw Taylor of the U.K. which used to be Icebreaker's distributor before the New Zealanders set up their own European subsidiary outside Munich. Bradshaw Taylor is still in charge of the Merino company in a few countries such as the U.K. and Finland. Sherpa is the first internationally operating outerwear brand from Nepal which was founded by Sherpa Tashi Sherpa whose uncle was part of Edmund Hillary's team which conquered Mount Everest for the first time in 1952. Sherpa offers a wide range of technical garments using materials from Event, Polartec and Primaloft. Additionally, it offers headwear hand-knitted by women in the Himalaya region. Sherpa invests a part of its turnover to the Paldorje Education foundation which is devoted to the education of Nepalese children.
