Garmin will present new software called Deutschland Digital 25 at the OutDoor show. The new program from the specialty provider of GPS solutions covers all of Germany with digital maps in the 1:25,000-centimeter scale, based on maps provided by the Landesvermessungsämter, the regional German offices for land surveying that are known for their high quality. Garmin put out a version of the software earlier this year, but with maps using the less accurate 1:50,000-centimeter scale. Deutschland Digital 25 has features like 3D bird’s-eye views, aerial photographs and more. The material corresponds to 4,049 paper maps. For now, the release is limited to Germany, but if it is successful, Garmin will consider expanding the project to other European countries.
