In France's mountain areas, the use of collective accommodation for tourists declined by 0.5 percent in the first quarter of the year as compared to the first quarter of 2018, according to data from France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), reported by sport-guide.com. The number of French tourists declined by 3.1 percent. Meanwhile, the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists registered a 4.2 percent increase. Attendance in seaside areas also declined, although the decrease in this case was of 1.4 percent. Throughout metropolitan France, the number of overnight stays in collective tourist accommodation declined by 2.5 percent as compared to the same period of 2018.
