JD Sports Fashion has taken over yet another British outdoor retailer, Ultimate Outdoor, which operates three stores under its own name in Northern England and Wales, plus a Planet Fear store in Keswick. Based in Lancaster, it has been running in its present form since 1999, but its roots reportedly go back more than 100 years. Controlled by Pentland Group, JD is also the owner of four other outdoor retail operations: Blacks, Millets, George Fischer and Tiso.
