In France, legislation was recently passed that makes it mandatory to mark bicycles to protect them from theft. All new bicycles sold in the country since January 1, 2021, must bear an engraved “Bicycode” identification number and be registered in a national registry. This measure will also be extended to used bicycles from July 1. As a retailer and designer/manufacturer of bicycles, Decathlon has announced that it will also offer bicycle marking and engraving services, having received special authorization from the French Ministry of the Interior for the latter.
