The International Ski Federation (FIS) has confirmed that the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina, Italy will take place on Feb. 9-21, 2021, as originally scheduled. The Tecnica Group, whose portfolio of brands includes Nordica, Tecnica, Blizzard and Moon Boot, is the technical sponsor of the event. Alberto Zanatta, the company’s president and a board member of Assosport, has welcomed FIS’ decision as ”a sign of confidence” in the recovery of the snow sports sector after the coronavirus crisis. In May, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and the Organizing Committee of the FIS championships had requested that the event be postponed to 2022 in connection with the global health crisis. The FIS and FISI later reviewed the situation and agreed on holding the event as initially planned.
