Moncler obtained the transfer of 50 domain names that had been unfairly registered in its name by three Chinese residents after the Arbitration and Mediation Center at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva said that the domains were registered in bad faith and used to sell counterfeit, low-quality goods. The domains included outletmoncleruk2015.com and outletmoncler2015uk.com, and were registered through GoDaddy, a well-known Internet domain registrar and web hosting company. Moncler filed its claim in December last year against Chinese residents Yao Tom and Lee Fei of Fuzhou, and Geryi Wang of Xiamen. The designer clothing brand claimed that the domains included the registered trademark “Moncler” and most of them “identically reproduced a substantial portion” of its official website, adopted the same format and wording, but then delivered counterfeit, substandard goods.
