The British government has launched a public consultation in the country to find out what can be done to increase participation in sport. The consultation will run for just under nine weeks, from Aug. 4 until Oct. 2. Figures from Sport England for the 12 months to March 2015 show that there are 15.49 million adults aged 16+ participating in sport every week, down from 15.9 million in Oct. 2012. Sport England, an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, invests more than £1 billion (€1.4bn-$1.5bn) of public funding over five years to fund community sport and encourage participation. The consultation paper, including an online response form, can be accessed via the www.gov.uk website.
