(SGI) Wolverine Worldwide has reached a tentative agreement with local authorities and the state of Michigan to help settle its litigation over the damage caused by the use of chemicals in a now closed tannery and another manufacturing plant near its head office in Rockford. The company will pay $69.5 million to extend a municipal water system for about 1,000 households whose drinking water was contaminated and to help fund a water filtration system and a new municipal well. The agreement has yet to be endorsed by a federal court, and Wolverine is still facing a number of other related suits brought by local residents.
