Mammut is gaining a foothold in the highly attractive market for back-country equipment. The Swiss have put together a small collection of high-end products for ski touring. The line includes apparel featuring Gore-Tex’ comfort mapping technology and equipment such as the new Pulse Barryvox to help search for those buried in avalanches. In Austria, the local distributor, Mammut Sports Group Austria, took on the distribution of the freeride and touring skis of Mouvement for the country. MSG Austria, in which the Swiss headquarters holds a minority stake, is currently local distributor of Mammut, Toko and DMM, the British brand for climbing equipment.
