New England Footwear, the company started by former Timberland executives to continue production of GoLite footwear when Timberland decided to discontinue it, has won funding from the Green Launching Pad. This is a program run by the state of New Hampshire to promote sustainable business. Doug Clark, the chief executive of New England Footwear, said the company hoped to bring production of the shoes back to the U.S. from current facilities in China. It has also developed a new molding process that makes development of the shoes less labor-intensive and allows the company to use biodegradable alternatives to petroleum-based raw products.
